Climbing a Mountain to Raise Money for Autism

A teacher from the UK is taking upon herself to climb the highest mountain in Africa to raise money for National Autistic Society.

The 36-year-old said: “It’s challenging but very rewarding and every small progress makes you happy.

“I think ‘wow’ when a student says a single word after never speaking at all. It’s amazing when they start communicating with you.”

Well not him, but his song. Joshua, who has severe autism, went missing and the police and rescue workers managed to find him by luring him with his favorite song “No More Tears” by Ozzy Osbourne.

Story did not end so well… as his parents are being investigated by child services.

Lately we have been reading lots of stories of police mistreating or even abusing children with special needs.

We’d like to think it is mostly due to ignorance. Police in Windsor, ON have created an Autism Registry, which will enable officers to respond to situation involving people with Autism accordingly.

Hopefully, this will spread.
